Original Penang Kayu Nasi Kandar

Enjoy the authentic flavours of Original Penang Kayu Nasi Kandar at CITTA Mall!

Nasi Kandar had its humble origins in Penang Island, one of Malaysia’s key tourist islands up North. ‘Nasi’ means rice in Malay while ‘Kandar’ refers to a formidable stick that is slung across one’s shoulder to carry heavy objects securely hung on both ends of the stick. Nasi Kandar was therefore coined to lend meaning to the way in which this local range of delightful Malaysian curry options was sold in the villages since time immemorial.

‘Original Penang Kayu Nasi Kandar’ is founded and managed by Penangites and we are proud to announce that our dishes are true blue Penang Originals. We are presently represented by more than 10 trendy lifestyle restaurants at prime locations throughout Malaysia, concentrated mainly in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Penang, operating under the well-accepted brand name of Original Penang Kayu Nasi Kandar.

Endorsement from the regular patrons has made ‘Original Penang Kayu’ synonymous with ‘Nasi Kandar’. While Nasi Kandar spearheads the signature dish menu, other mouth watering fried and hotplate dishes such as a great variety of fresh roti (leavened bread) and hot & spicy authentic dishes that tickles your adventurous taste buds must not be missed.

Subway

The Seventeen-Year-Old Entrepreneur
Back in 1965, Fred DeLuca set out to fulfill his dream of becoming a medical doctor. Searching for a way to help pay for his education, a family friend suggested he open a submarine sandwich shop.

With a loan of $1,000, the friend—Dr. Peter Buck—offered to become Fred’s partner, and a business relationship was forged that would change the landscape of the fast food industry.
The first store was opened in Bridgeport, Connecticut in August, 1965. Then, they set a goal of having 32 stores opened in 10 years. Fred soon learned the basics of running a business, as well as the importance of serving a well-made, high quality product, providing excellent customer service, keeping operating costs low and finding great locations. These early lessons continue to serve as the foundation for successful SUBWAY restaurants around the world.

SUBWAY, the Franchise
By 1974, the duo owned and operated 16 submarine sandwich shops throughout Connecticut. Realizing they would not reach their 32 store goal in time, they began franchising, launching the SUBWAY brand into a period of remarkable growth which continues to this day.

A Fresh Future
Today, the SUBWAY brand is the world’s largest submarine sandwich chain with more than 44,000 locations around the world. We’ve become the leading choice for people seeking quick, nutritious meals that the whole family can enjoy. From the beginning, Fred has had a clear vision for the future of the SUBWAY brand. As we continue to grow, we are guided by his passion for delighting customers by serving delicious, made-to-order sandwiches.

Established in January 2007, Waroeng, an Indonesian Food restaurant offering a semi-fast food concept, has been acknowledged as a quality Indonesian food provider in Singapore and Malaysia, especially for its famous Ayam Penyet (Flattened Fried Chicken), and has become a benchmark for other Indonesian restaurants in Malaysia.

Within a short period of time, we have successfully built our brand based on our core values of quality, service, and cleanliness. We have also been reviewed by many newspapers and magazines in Singapore and Malaysia, including TV3’s “Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan”, which has listed us as a “must-try” restaurant.

Onde Onde

Stemming from Kuala Lumpur, Onde Onde seeks to share Malaysian flavours with different ethnicities and nationalities. At Onde Onde, our aim is to bring back a sense of nostalgia with each dining experience.

Placing a strong emphasis on delivering great taste and food quality are the business’ laurels. Onde Onde believes that when serving local food to the Malaysian public, one has to deliver results, by surpassing consumer expectations, as Malaysians know their food well.

Onde Onde shares all-time local favourites, with ingredients sourced from specialty towns throughout Malaysia, with some ingredients sourced from household suppliers who only produce and supply exclusively to Onde Onde. Our cincalok and gula Melaka are sourced from none other than Melaka. Another highlight ingredient is Onde Onde’s ground coffee, which is sourced from a traditional family roaster in Ipoh. The end product is a smooth, robust and fragrant coffee free of sharp acidity and palate-numbing bitterness.

As consumers become more sophisticated and savvy, using unique and premium ingredients sets Onde Onde apart from its competition. For instance, our kaya is homemade, using a traditional recipe of duck-eggs, fresh coconut milk, and gula Melaka.

Among Onde Onde’s bestsellers are its Assam Laksa, Nasi Lemak Istimewa Supreme and prawn noodles (“Mee Yok”), all of which are family recipes to retain its authenticity. Colourful and delectable, Onde Onde has over 25 varieties of authentic kuih-muihs to select from as a teatime snack or dessert.

Nando’s

Nando’s is a warm welcome that’ll make you feel right at home. And that’s not just because of our PERi-PERi!

Each one of our restaurants has its own special design, but they all have earthy textures and colours that remind us of our sunny Afro-Portuguese roots, and many feature original South African art and unique design touches. Cool Afro-Luso beats and friendly service add to the vibe, and then there’s the piece-de-resistance: our flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken that’s served on beautiful crockery.

It makes for a sizzling experience and we can’t wait for you to join our table. Because if there’s one thing we love just as much as PERi-PERi, it’s big, happy gatherings! Like most family recipes, we’re not about to give ours away, but we can tell you our PERi-PERi will put fire in your belly and ignite passion in your soul. Some even say it causes an oh-so-good endorphin release. Others are convinced it’s an aphrodisiac. But… we’ll leave that for you to find out.

Enjoy!
